How does the queen move in chess?
The queen moves like a rook and a bishop together: any number of squares in a straight line or along a diagonal.
She cannot jump over pieces. She is the strongest piece, worth about 9 pawns, so losing her for less is usually losing the game.
Beginners often bring the queen out early. She gets chased around by smaller pieces, which costs time; develop knights and bishops first.
