FAQ

Is this legal? Do you have a license?

Yes. Indiana's Home-Based Vendor law (HEA 1149 / IC 16-42-5.3, effective 2022) allows direct sale of shelf-stable, non-potentially-hazardous baked goods like banana bread from a home kitchen β€” no business license or kitchen inspection required for items in that category.

Sales must be direct to the end consumer (no wholesale, no shipping out of state), each item must carry the required label, and I follow the law's disclosure rules. Full statutory notice is at the bottom of this page.

What's in it? Any allergens?

Ingredients: ripe bananas, all-purpose wheat flour, granulated sugar, eggs, unsalted butter (milk), brown sugar, vanilla extract, baking soda, ground cinnamon, salt.

Contains: wheat, eggs, milk.

Cross-contact: the kitchen also handles tree nuts (walnuts), peanuts, soy, and sesame. If you have a severe allergy, please note it on your order and I'll adjust prep.

How long does it keep? Can I freeze it?

Sealed at room temp: ~3 days at peak. Refrigerated in an airtight container: up to a week. Frozen (double-wrapped): up to 3 months. Thaw at room temp, optionally warm in a 300Β°F oven for 5–10 min to refresh the crust.

Is sales tax charged?

Under Indiana law (IC 6-2.5-5-20), bakery items sold whole β€” like a full loaf of banana bread β€” are typically exempt from state sales tax when sold for human consumption without eating utensils. No tax is added to the price.

This isn't legal advice β€” if you're a business reselling, your situation may differ.

What if I want to cancel or it's not good?

Cancel anytime before I start baking (just message me). Once a batch is in the oven, I can't undo it, but I can offer a credit toward the next bake.

If a loaf isn't good β€” I'll either make it right with a fresh loaf or refund. No drama.

Do you deliver?

Local pickup in Elkhart, IN. By Indiana's Home-Based Vendor law, all sales are direct to the end consumer β€” no shipping across state lines and no wholesale to stores. For nearby porch drop-offs, ask in your order notes.

How do I pay?

PayPal link sent on confirmation, or cash at pickup. Your call.

Will the menu grow?

Yes β€” banana bread is the opener. Cookies, sourdough, brownies, and seasonal loaves are queued as the kitchen scales. Got a request? Drop it in the order notes or DM me.

Why I'm baking

I like making things people actually use. Banana bread is the first one β€” ingredients bought, kitchen ready, and I'd rather bake for neighbors than ship something stale from a store.

Every loaf is mixed and baked the day you pick it up. Each one carries a printed label showing every ingredient. If it's not good, I'll make it right.
