B90 · Sicilian Defense: Najdorf Variation, English Attack · you play Black
The idea
Trade your c-pawn for White's d-pawn, then a6 keeps White's pieces off b5 and e5 grabs space.
The moves
1. e4 c5 2. Nf3 d6 3. d4 cxd4 4. Nxd4 Nf6 5. Nc3 a6 6. Be3 e5 7. Nb3 Be6

When they go another way
- If they play 2.c3: Against c3, hit e4 with Nf6. After e5 the knight sits well on d5 and d6 breaks up White's centre.
